Our firm was built on this core practice area.

We advise on cutting edge competition issues and regulatory law to a wide range of organisations in both the public and private sectors.

Policies and legislation emanating from Brussels have an impact on almost every sector of commercial life. The law is in a constant change of flux, whether by new directives, regulations and decisions from the EU institutions or from significant decisions from the European Courts.  Our team will help you to foresee, influence and understand the latest legal developments in all areas relevant to your commercial activities.

We advise across the full gamut of competition law and can help you utilise the law to protect your interests, whether by reference to unfair competition or issues of dominance.  We also advise public and private bodies in relation to State aid, both in terms of ensuring that grant aid measures are in line with applicable State aid rules as well as assisting private parties who believe State aid may have been granted to their competitors.

We regularly advise businesses in relation to merger notifications to the Irish Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and European Commission. We have also represented clients in State aid litigation before the Irish High Court, European Commission and the EU General Court.

We have developed a particular niche practice in defending cartel and competition law prosecutions by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and the Director of Public Prosecutions.  We have successfully defended clients from the private sector, including in energy, retail and agri-business.  Indeed, we defend more criminal prosecutions and are involved in more cases in competition law enforcement than any other law firm in Ireland.

In essence our team will make sure that you are fully prepared for all compliance and enforcement issues.
