Data, Privacy and Technology

We know this area of law, inside out.

quotes Expert knowledge of the area and good level of serviceChambers Europe, 2017

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) came into direct legal effect in all EU member states, including Ireland, on 25 May 2018.  We are leading experts in the area of data protection law.  We have advised private and public sector companies on the full spectrum of data protection compliance and enforcement issues.  We have also acted in many of the leading data protection cases to come before the Courts.  A number of our partners are CIPP/E certified (Certified International Privacy Professional – Europe).

We have advised the Data Protection Commissioner since 2002 on a range of data protection compliance and enforcement issues.  We also advise many clients in the private and public sectors on data protection and privacy issues, as well as on freedom of information.  The firm are also advisers to the Office of the Information Commissioner.

Partners Anne BatemanSean McElligottDamien Young and Eoghan Doyle are all exceptionally skilled and experienced in this area and through their dedication and determination they will ease you through the most complicated of issues.

Many of today’s data, privacy and information issues are technology-focused, and we find that it is often necessary for clients to consider technology and data issues hand-in-hand.

Our technology team is particularly strong in this area, having advised on ICT projects involving personal data, including establishment of patient databases for pharmaceutical companies, collection and storage of personal information by companies online and via apps and social media accounts, and advising on appropriate privacy policies and data compliance issues for technology and media companies.
