Start TLV is an international start-up competition, which will see the top innovative start-up companies from over 20 different countries selected for the opportunity to attend a five day intense start-up experience to learn from the start-up ecosystem in Tel Aviv and meet with leading investors and multinationals. The winners will also be given the opportunity to attend Israel’s leading tech conference DLD Tel Aviv.
Tel Aviv is a leading innovation hub with world class tech talents, dozens of leading multinationals and hundreds of tech star start-ups. The city was named Europe’s leading tech hub by the Wall Street Journal and ranked by Start-up Genome as the 2nd best place in the world to open a start-up!
Over the last number of years, Start TLV-Ireland, has become one of the ‘must win’ start-up competitions. Previously, winners have included Trustev, Bizimply and Logograb which have used the competition as stepping stone for wins in bigger competitions and to increase their international reputation.
Pat Phelan, who represented Trustev:
“Trustev really enjoyed their experience at START TLV. It was incredible to see the huge volume of activity in the startup technology space in Israel which we got to see in great detail, thanks to an excellent programme of events and activities”.
This 2016 competition will celebrate the diversity and equality within the Irish start-up ecosystem by adopting the theme of selecting the best and brightest female-led start-up to represent Ireland in Tel Aviv. From a large number of entries the following 10 companies were shortlisted:
The local competition to find the most innovative Irish start-up was initiated in 2013 and coordinated by the Ireland Israel Business Network, a bilateral business to business forum established in 2012, with the aim of generating the foundation of greater business opportunities and connections between the two countries. The Business network now has 1000+ members and runs frequent start-up focused events in both countries. The competition is also supported by leading law firm Philip Lee that specialises in advising Israeli companies on all aspects of Irish and English commercial law, EL AL , Ireland’s favourite air carrier to Israel and NDRC, one of the leading centres in Ireland supporting the start-up community.
Finalists will compete at pitch night at NDRC on 29th June. The judging panel will include Debbie Rennick (ACT Venture Capital), Majella Crennan (Philip Lee), Fionnuala Healy (TCD) and Colette Sexton (Sunday Business Post). Tickets for Pitch night can be found at http://starttlv2016.eventbrite.ie
