Maeve is a senior associate within the planning and environmental team.

Prior to joining the firm Maeve trained, qualified and worked for three years with another top Irish law firm. In their tier 1 Planning and Environmental team. She has therefore specialised in planning and environmental law since qualification. Maeve has experience advising on energy projects, carrying out environmental due diligence for the project financing of these transactions, identifying risks and working collaboratively to mitigate those risks.

She has advised on a wide variety of litigious and non-litigious environmental and planning matters.

Maeve has experience in assisting clients with stakeholder engagement, as a required part of consent applications but also as a means of avoiding/proactively addressing disputes

Representative Matters

  • Carrying out environmental due diligence for sellers and purchasers in relation to a wide variety of businesses including pharmaceutical companies, hotels, food businesses, fuel suppliers, packaging and energy companies. Advising clients on mitigating the identified risks.
  • Advising clients in relation to various planning and environmental law matters arising under Irish and European law including under the Planning Acts and draft legislation in relation to the extension of planning permissions and on new planning regulations relating to statutory undertakers.
  • Advising clients in relation to the Freedom of Information and Access to Information on the Environment regimes.
  • Carrying out due diligence for the project financing of numerous wind farm transactions and advising on strategy to minimise risks identified.
  • Providing strategic advice to a semi-state body on the development of licence application templates focussed on mitigating the risk of challenges on environmental grounds.
  • Delivering advice on the Marine Area Planning Act to the Marine Institute, Mainstream Renewable Power, RWE Renewables Ireland Limited, and Inis Offshore Wind.
  • Assisting Alice in undertaking a Regulatory Review of the forestry sector as part of Project Woodland in 2021/2022.
  • Advising Aqua Comms on the financing, consenting, development and operation of subsea fibre optic cable networks, Havhingsten / CeltixConnect 2 and Havfrue / AEC 2
  • Advising SEAI in connection with obtaining foreshore site investigations licence and related planning consent for the Atlantic Marine Energy Test Site (AMETS
  • Advising Galetech Energy Services in connection with the assessment of replacement afforestation lands as part of EIA and AA of wind farm project.
  • Advising Irish renewable energy company, Emerging Markets Power (EMPower) on the consenting and development of four onshore windfarm projects in the SW of Ireland including the review of the EIAR.
  • Advising Statkraft on the consenting of one of its onshore windfarm projects.
  • Advising Galway City Council on planning and CPO aspects of the BusConnects Galway and Cross-City Link projects.
  • Led the environment and regulatory due diligence on the ISIF investment in ClonBio Green Gas Limited (Green Generation) in 2023, to support the Kildare based company’s expansion of existing biomethane business.
  • Advising Dawn Meats on the interaction with and response to a third party appeal to their grant of planning permission for a proposed mixed-use development.
  • Advising on the environment and regulatory due diligence on behalf of Meridiam Partners and Gyrogy Limited for a joint venture acquisition of Premier Periclase Holdings Limited. And advising on future redevelopment of the site.
  • Advising PCRE on several projects, including the planning and environmental due diligence on the acquisition of a 400MW portfolio of solar projects from Terra Solar in 2021, in a deal backed by Omnes.
  • Acted as solicitor for and representing An Bord Pleanála in the defence of various High Court Judicial Review proceedings taken on environmental and planning grounds.
