Philip Lee Trainee Solicitor Darragh Bollard has won the Law Society Trainee Moot Court Competition. Darragh and his team mate Eamonn Butler (Arthur Cox) were adjudicated the winning team in the final held on Wednesday 26 February 2020. Darragh also picked up the accolade of Best Individual Advocate in the Final.
The competition was before an esteemed and probing panel of judges consisting of Mr Justice Michael Peart, Mr Justice Donald Binchy, Mr Justice Michael Twomey, Mr Justice Michael Quinn, Ken Murphy, Director General of the Law Society and TP Kennedy, Education Director at the Law Society. The teams argued a topical issue of whether there was an unenumerated constitutional right to housing, and a right of a family to reside together, based on Bunreacht ha hEireann and the ECHR.
The competition is organised annually for trainee solicitors attending PPC1 and participants for the final were selected over many rounds from a large number of competitors.
Worthy runners up were David Foy (MacSweeney & Co) and Katie Lee (Hoban Boino).
