Anne Bateman and Ann Henry lead ‘a great team’ Legal 500 2016

Happy World IP Day from Philip Lee!  Ireland’s leading Intellectual Property Law Practice.

This year, the World Intellectual Property Organisation is  exploring the future of culture in the digital age: how we create it, how we access it, how we finance it.

Ireland has an abundance of culture that can be enjoyed from your desktop.  We have selected our top three Irish websites which bring Ireland’s cultural heritage into the digital age:

The Digital Repository of Ireland.

This site is a national digital repository for Ireland’s humanities, social sciences, and cultural heritage data. You can browse and search across multiple collections from some of the finest Irish institutions. Our current favourite is The Letters of 1916

National Gallery of Ireland.

The National Gallery’s online collection presents a selection of works including all acquisitions from the last ten years as well as highlights from each of the schools of art. Each record features core information accompanied by an image. One of their most famous paintings is Hellelil and Hildebrand, the Meeting on the Turret Stairs, 1864

National Library of Ireland.

In 2007 the National Library undertook a major project to digitise its’ collections of glass plate negatives. Over 33,000 glass plate negatives from the Lawrence Royal and Cabinet, Poole Whole Plate, Independent H, Clarke, Eason, Keogh, Stereo Pairs and Tempest photographic collections were scanned. All of these images are accessible through their online catalogue. One example is the Eason Photographic Collection which contains fascinating images from Ireland created for the Irish postcard trade by Eason & Son. The collection consists of 4,000 negatives dating from 1900-1940.
