Ward emphasises the crucial role that partnerships have played in propelling FoodCloud’s growth.
Ward’s journey is inspiring, as she founded FoodCloud straight out of college. She reflects on the early support they received from Tesco Ireland and AIB, which were pivotal milestones in the development of their organisation. Together with her partner, Aoibheann O’Brien, Ward combined their mutual passion for food and a strong commitment to reducing food waste. Their first experience facilitating a donation from the “Honest 2 Goodness” farmers market in Glasnevin to the charity “Don Bosco Teenage Care” made it clear that technology would be essential to build a scalable and sustainable solution.
FoodCloud focuses on redistributing surplus food, drawing inspiration from similar initiatives that emerged in the United States in the 1960s.
