Philip Lee LLP is delighted to share the fourth episode of Series 2 of Business Plus Talks, our podcast produced in association with Business Plus.
Hosted by David Burke, the series brings listeners candid conversations with CEOs, innovators, policymakers and change-makers, exploring the pivotal moments that shaped their careers and perspectives.
The fourth guest of Series 2 is Conor McCarthy, Executive Chair of Emerald Airlines and Dublin Aerospace, following last week’s episode featuring Fidelma McGuirk, Founder and CEO of Payslip.
With more than 47 years of experience in the air travel industry, Conor McCarthy has held senior roles with Aer Lingus, Ryanair and AirAsia. In 2020, he founded Emerald Airlines to operate the Aer Lingus Regional franchise, taking over the contract following the liquidation of Stobart Air.
Emerald Airlines currently operates a fleet of 20 ATR72 aircraft from bases in Dublin, Belfast, Shannon and Cork, and will operate the Aer Lingus Regional franchise until 2032. The airline became profitable for the first time in 2024, recording revenues of €201 million and an operating profit of €9.6 million.
In addition to Emerald Airlines, Conor McCarthy owns aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul businesses Dublin Aerospace and Exeter Aerospace. Across his aviation ventures, his businesses employ approximately 1,200 people.
