Business Plus Talks, Series 2: Episode 8 – Danny McCoy, CEO of Ibec

The eighth episode of Series 2 of Business Plus Talks, our podcast produced in association with Business Plus is now available.

Hosted by David Burke, the series brings listeners candid conversations with CEOs, innovators, policymakers and change-makers, exploring the pivotal moments that shaped their careers and perspectives.

The eighth guest of Series 2 is Danny McCoy, CEO of Ibec, following last week’s episode featuring James O’Connor, Microsoft Ireland Corporate Vice President.

In this episode, Danny reflects on a career that has placed him at the intersection of business, policymaking and economic thought, from his early work as a senior economist with the Central Bank of Ireland and the ESRI to advisory roles with the European Commission and the OECD.

Having first joined Ibec in 2005 as director of policy, McCoy has led Ireland’s largest business representative organisation as CEO since 2009, strengthening the voice of Irish business at both national and European level. He also discusses his academic background, including lecturing roles at UCL, the University of Oxford, Trinity College Dublin and DCU, and the perspectives these experiences have given him on economic policy and leadership.

Recently recognised with the Trinity European Laureate Award, McCoy speaks about the importance of cooperation, stability and shared prosperity, as well as his advocacy during the Brexit negotiations. Known for his forthright and thoughtful commentary on the major issues of the day, listeners can expect McCoy to be his typically candid self in conversation, offering clear insights into the challenges and opportunities facing Ireland and Europe.

We are proud to support this podcast and bring you conversations that inspire, challenge and inform, just as our values inspire us to lead the way in law and business.
