Michael is a senior associate in the firm’s dispute resolution and litigation team. Michael advises clients across the public and private sectors on a wide range of commercial disputes, with particular focus on construction, procurement and health and safety matters.

He is experienced in the various forms of alternative dispute resolution, including adjudication under the Construction Contracts Act 2013, and his litigation experience ranges from the District Court to the High Court and Supreme Court.

Michael also advises clients on non-contentious construction law matters and standard form contracts such as the Public Works Contracts and RIAI. He is experienced in commercial drafting and negotiation, as well as assisting with the provision of advices to regulatory bodies on procedural issues and in relation to their statutory functions and powers.

Recent Work

      • Part of the Philip Lee team who advised the HSE in a number of mediations and disputes such as a facilities services contract dispute and issues in construction projects.
      • Part of the Philip Lee team that advised SISK on a significant development at Nassau Street.
      • Part of the Philip Lee construction team that advised a client in relation to the mediation of a construction dispute with a contractor and also provided advices in relation to occupiers’ liability issues.
      • Experience in drafting building contracts, professional team appointments and collateral warranties on numerous construction projects.
      • Part of the Philip Lee construction team that advised a client in relation to the unlawful termination of a contract by a sub-contractor and also ADR processes, specifically adjudication under the Construction Contracts Act 2013. The adjudication process, which was one of the first statutory adjudications in Ireland, resulted in a very favourable decision for our client.
      • Part of the Philip Lee team that advised the owners’ management company of an apartment complex in relation to structural defects and construction issues.
      • Part of the Philip Lee team that advised a hospital in relation to a High Court challenge against its procurement tender process for the construction and running of a new blood laboratory.
      • Michael is experienced in procurement litigation and has been part of the Philip Lee litigation team in both full procurement challenge hearings and applications to conclude the tender contract. Michael has also given both external and internal presentations on such applications.
