Michael is a partner in the firm’s projects and construction team. Michael is experienced in a broad range of practice areas including construction law, public procurement, PPP projects, and health and safety matters. He advises clients across the public and private sectors on both contentious and non-contentious matters.
He is experienced in high value complex disputes conducted in both court proceedings and by way of the various ADR forums, to include mediation, conciliation, arbitration and adjudications under the Construction Contracts Act 2013. His litigation experience ranges from advocacy in the District Court to the High Court, Commercial Court and Supreme Court. He has vast experience of judicial review proceedings challenging high value procurement decisions issued by state authorities.
Michael also advises clients on non-contentious construction law matters and standard form contracts such as the Public Works Contracts, FIDIC, NEC4 and RIAI in addition to drafting bespoke construction contracts. He is experienced in commercial drafting including professional team appointments and collateral warranties on numerous construction projects and the negotiation of same. Michael advises regulatory bodies on procedural issues and in relation to their statutory functions and powers. He also advises clients in respect of health and safety law obligations, breaches of same and prosecutions pursued by the Health and Safety Authority.
Michael is a regular contributor to articles and talks in the construction arena and lectures on health and safety law in University College Dublin and the Law Society of Ireland. Michael is a member of the Health and Safety Lawyer’s Association of Ireland, the Construction Bar Association of Ireland, the Society of Construction Law, the Adjudication Society, and the Southern Law Association.
