On 6 January 2025, Ireland introduced a pivotal legislative change regarding the review and scrutiny of foreign direct investments into the State coming from entities controlled outside of the EU, the EEA or Switzerland.

This new regime means that UK, US and Asian buyers in relevant sectors will be within scope and have to notify transactions to the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment for approval prior to closing transactions.
