Ireland’s peatlands, among the country’s most valuable natural ecosystems, are set for a major boost thanks to a landmark international investment by Meta, Microsoft and Google, facilitated by Peatland Finance Ireland through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation and Agua Segura.
This initiative will deliver measurable benefits for climate, water, biodiversity and local communities in restoring up to 450 hectares of peatland across Ireland, backed by Irish Peatland standard verification. The first site under consideration is the Wicklow Mountains Special Area of Conservation.
