We were delighted to advise Varaha, a leading developer of carbon dioxide removal projects with smallholder farmers across Asia, on its recent biochar carbon removal offtake with Microsoft.
The transaction represents a commitment by Microsoft to purchase over 100,000 biochar carbon removal credits over the next 3 years. Impactfully, the biomass feedstock for the project will be provided by smallholder farmers in Maharashtra, India, with the biochar produced by the project to be applied in their fields.
