Philip Lee is pleased to announce that partner Rachel Minch has been granted a Patent of Precedence by the Government, allowing her to use the title of Senior Counsel.
Rachel is one of 29 solicitors who have been appointed as Senior Counsel in Ireland to date, a designation that was traditionally awarded to barristers who were called to the Inner Bar. This was the second occasion in the history of the State when solicitors could apply for patents of precedence on the basis of proven excellence in their field.
Rachel specialises in planning, environmental and public and administrative law. Her practice primarily involves advising public sector clients in those areas, with a particular focus on the defence of their decisions in the Superior Courts. She has been involved in many of the leading cases in this area of practice over the past decade. Rachel is a council member and former chairperson (2012 to 2018) of the Irish Environmental Law Association. A graduate of the University of Cambridge (BA), she qualified as a solicitor in Ireland in 2001.
Commenting on Rachel’s appointment as Senior Counsel, Philip Lee’s Managing Partner, Jonathan Kelly said, “This prestigious designation rightly marks Rachel out as ‘best in class’, reflecting the consistent excellence of her work and the depth of her expertise.
The designation also reflects the independence and objectivity Rachel brings to bear in her work, and the first-rate quality of service she, together with her team, have consistently delivered to their clients for many years.”
