Amanda-Jayne Comyn leads the tax practice at Philip Lee and advises the firm’s clients on tax issues in corporate and personal transactions, tax planning, tax litigation and dealing with Revenue.

quotes “I was really pleased with the advice I received from Philip Lee, both in terms of quality and speed. I would definitely use the firm again and would happily recommend them to others.” Andrew Watkins, Ebiquity

The aim of the tax team is to offer focused, commercial solutions to deal with a client’s tax and business need.  The team’s approach is to understand the commercial or tax issue and then advise how best to resolve it in the most tax efficient and timely way possible.  Our view is tax should not be an impediment to a transaction and our tax team work closely with other departments of the firm to best achieve these aims.

Recent work includes advice on a number of new companies establishing headquarters in Ireland, group re-structuring of an indigenous Irish group and working with other members of the firm on the tax issues for Schools Bundle 3 PPP and the N11 Arklow to Rathnew PPP.

As well as transactional work the team advises on Revenue interaction and litigation.  In the current environment there is an increasing focus by Revenue on the tax compliance and tax affairs of clients.  Our tax team advise clients on Revenue related issues including Revenue negotiations, investigations and Revenue litigation.

We also have a strong VAT practice and advise on the VAT aspects of all transactions in particular on real estate matters.  We do not carry out compliance services.

Key areas where clients seek our advice

  • Tax aspects of M&A transactions
  • Corporate finance and re-structuring
  • Inward Investment
  • Property transactions
  • Tax issues on contentious matters and Revenue negotiation
