We are pleased to introduce the third issue of M&A Insights. M&A Insights is a quarterly insight guide that looks at transactions in Ireland and the UK and the impact that the international market has on corporate transactions in these jurisdictions.
This insight has been created in partnership with Experian, the global information services company using their comprehensive database of business and financial information which monitors and tracks the behaviour of businesses in the UK and Ireland.
The third edition in the series is informed by data gathered on deal activity across Q2 2022 in the Irish and UK markets.
The data in Q2 revealed positive deal activity for inward and outbound deals involving Irish businesses. Once again, we witnessed impressive resilience from Irish companies attracting capital from overseas in a chaotic economic climate. Outbound M&A from Ireland remained strong when looked at in the round over the previous five years.
Likewise, 2022 Q2 UK inward investment showed a three-fold increase (in value terms) of that in Q2 2021, perhaps bucking market trends across other European jurisdictions. Companies in London and the south-east of England in particular are still therefore proving very attractive to international buyers, with the London tech sector remaining resilient.
