Philip Lee’s Projects and Construction team examine the trends emerging in construction contract adjudications in Ireland in 2025 and the findings of the Ninth Annual Report of the Chairperson of the Construction Contract Adjudication Panel.
Statutory adjudication is now well-established as a means for resolving payment disputes in the Irish construction industry. In the last five years alone, adjudicators have been appointed to payment disputes with a combined total value of almost €224 million, with this figure anticipated to grow over the coming years.
The past 12 months brought notable developments in this area with the Irish High Court refusing to enforce adjudication decisions for the first time in the cases of Tenderbids Limited trading as Bastion v Electrical Waste Management Limited [2025] IEHC 139 and Albert Connaughton v Timber Frame Projects Ltd t/a Timber Frame Ireland [2025] IEHC 469.
